Daybreak Rotary Club to meet Wednesday

The Daybreak Rotary Club will hear a presentation at 7 a.m. Wednesday by Adam and Audrey Beals, who worked with the Teach for America program last year on the Navajo and Zuni reservations.

The public is invited the talk at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Stillwater Foundation to perform concert

The Stillwater Foundation will present “Winter Wonder Bands,” a musical showcasing Stillwater Foundation’s 13 youth and adult bands and ensembles, from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Durango VFW Hall, 1533 Main Ave.

This concert will feature music from a variety of genres, including jazz, rock, Latin fusion, Caribbean and more. Tickets are $5 at the door. The event also will feature Texas Tacos from Serious Texas B-B-Q, homemade desserts and a silent auction. Proceeds will go toward providing after-school music and athletic programs for youth in La Plata County. The event will end with a performance by the Stillwater All-Star Jam, featuring Stillwater’s professional musicians/instructors Steve Dejka, Jesse Ogle, Robby Overfield, Jared Wright and Jeroen Van Tyn.

DMR to hold locals day Sunday

Durango Mountain Resort’s first Locals Benefit Day of the season will take place Sunday and will benefit the La Plata County Mounted Patrol.

Discounted lift tickets are $40 for adults, $32 for seniors 65 and older and students ages 13 to 17, and $25 for children ages 6 to 12. A coupon must be presented at the DMR main ticket window for the discount. Coupons will be available at www.lpcmp.org and in the Thursday issue of the Durango Telegraph.

The La Plata County Mounted Patrol is a volunteer nonprofit organization that helps the La Plata County Sheriff Department, Durango Police Department, Office of Emergency Management, Search and Rescue, Bayfield Marshal’s Office and city of Durango. The Mounted Patrol also helps the Durango Mountain Resort Ski Patrol. The Mounted Patrol will use the money raised to purchase new radios.
