Pagosa church slated to host Mardi Gras party

The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Hall, 451 Lewis St. in Pagosa Springs, will host a Mardi Gras party Feb. 12.

The Rev. Don Malin has been growing a beard for the last four months as a fundraiser to benefit the parish. The rules of the “beard-off” are that for $1 people can vote for him to either keep the beard or shave it off.

Ray’s Barbershop will have a barber on hand if the shave-off votes are the highest. The largest donor to either side of the vote will win a five-course meal for six cooked by Malin at the rectory.

There will be prizes for best women’s and men’s costumes, and dancing to Cajun music. Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple, with funds going to benefit the religious education and youth ministries of the parish. Tickets are available at Silver Dollar Liquor, Homespun Comforts, The Antler Shed and after the masses at both Catholic churches.
