The lead instructor and owner of the Wolf Creek Avalanche School will be a guest speaker Thursday at Pine Needle Mountaineering, 835 Main Ave.
Sandy Kobrock will talk about avalanche danger and precautions that should be taken when skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling or hiking in snow-covered mountains.
Kobrock’s talk will begin at 6 p.m. She has 27 years experience in the field, including time as ski patrol supervisor at Squaw Valley and snow safety supervisor at Wolf Creek Ski Area.
The Thursday presentation will include an overview of avalanche awareness, forecasting, avoidance and self-rescue. It is suitable for beginners and is a refresher class for experienced recreationalists.
