Hit-and-run suspect turns self in to police

The Durango Police Department had been seeking the driver of this vehicle, a white 2000 to 2004 Ford Mustang with a black convertible top, that was involved in a hit-and-run incident Jan. 13 morning. The driver turned himself in to police Thursday.

The suspect involved in a hit-and-run Jan. 13 at Hillcrest Apartments, 1000 Goeglein Gulch Road turned himself in Thursday, Durango Police Department officials said Monday.

The driver of the white 2000 Ford Mustang convertible was identified as Sean Michael Anthony Connors, 26, according to a DPD news release.

Connors read the hit-and-run article in The Durango Herald and called dispatch Thursday, the release said.

Connors was given a summons Monday for leaving the scene without providing required information after hitting a car and failing to notify police of an accident.

According to a police report, Connors said he became nervous immediately after the crash and left the scene without attempting to contact the owner of the car that was struck or the police.

The mustang was found to have slight damage on the driver’s side door as a result from the crash, the release said.
