I think the Arc should be given a decent burial and a headstone placed in that spot that says:

Here lie the remains of a piece of art that was enjoyed by some and inspired others to feats of imagination enjoyed by many. Cause of death – stupidity, violence and just plain meanness. Rest in Peace.
