In winter driving, tires are everything

Winter is coming, like it or not. They say it could be an eventful one. We will face dangerous driving conditions, so my advice is be prepared.

You must be able to start, stop and steer. It doesn’t matter whether you have all-wheel, four-wheel or front-wheel drive. Multi-wheel drive vehicles and especially large ones with marginal tires are just more deadly projectiles. Going head-on or being rear-ended by someone are major concerns.

Spend your deductible amount on new snow tires if you drive north, or aggressive all-seasons if you don’t. If you have neither, stay home or in the far right lane. Look ahead and allow plenty of stopping room and get new wiper blades. Have a great, safe winter.
