An American Airlines flight thought to have landing gear troubles landed safely Wednesday morning at Durango-La Plata County Airport.
Kip Turner, director of aviation, said American Airlines flight 3140 reported potential gear trouble. The American Eagle flight, operated by Envoy Air, was en route from Grand Junction to Dallas-Fort Worth. It had 46 passengers and three crew members, according to a statement provided to the Herald by American Airlines.
An indicator light in the cockpit reported a possible mechanical issue, the statement said.
The plane landed at 11:37 a.m. and was expected to depart about 5:15 p.m. Wednesday after being inspected by a maintenance crew.
Turner did not know why the plane was diverted to La Plata County instead of returning to Grand Junction, and American Airlines did not provide an answer to that question in its statement.
