Thank you, Durango Herald, for telling Randy Shaw’s story. I believe that this type of reporting brings awareness to the issue of homelessness in our community.
There are many Randy Shaws across this country, and we can do more to help people in his position. In a society such as ours, people who struggle with substance-abuse disorders or mental illness should not die on the street.
My hope is that a seed of compassion for the homeless has been planted in the hearts and minds of people in this community.
