Mercy Regional doctors to talk about palliative care at library

Mercy Regional Medical Center will host nurse practitioner and palliative care specialist Dan Keuning for “Palliative Care: Pursuing Quality of Life when Facing a Life-Limiting Illness” from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Palliative care focuses on relieving symptoms and enhancing quality of life for people receiving curative treatment for potentially life-limiting (not only terminal) illnesses such as cancer. Keuning will explain the difference between palliative care and hospice care, along with the risks and benefits of various treatment options.

Food sensitivities, allergies talk to be held at Durango library

Advanced Allergy Relief Center of the Southwest will present “Food Allergies, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Skin Conditions” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Program Room 2 of Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Caleb Gates, licensed acupuncturist, will discuss how symptoms from food sensitivities and allergies can be resolved.
