The Ignacio girls basketball team responded after a tough loss with a strong win Saturday.
After falling big to Centauri on Friday, the Bobcats earned a 37-30 win against Rye.
“It was a good defensive battle, but our shots started to fall where they didn’t Friday,” IHS head coach Shane Seibel said.
Hilda Garcia led Ignacio in scoring with 13 points, and she added three steals. Ellie Seibel nearly had a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds, and Avionne Gomez finished with nine points and five rebounds for the Bobcats (2-2)
Coach Seibel was happy to see his team pick up its play without senior guard Chrystianne Valdez. He credited Gibran Silva, Miriam Fernandez-Lopez and Veronica Gonzales for stepping up.
“Everyone contributed to an overall team win. The bench really stepped up,” he said.
