“They have already invested some money in 3A materials,” Superintendent Dan Snowberger said about the Stronger Schools, Stronger Community group working to pass the mill levy override.
“Since Bayfield is hoping to pass a bond issue, it seems like 3B is more appropriate for Bayfield.”
The board passed the resolution at 5:35 p.m., and the sealed resolution was faxed to County Clerk Tiffany Parker by 5:45 p.m. The Bayfield board was not scheduled to meet until 6 p.m.
The 9-R board also approved agreements with Animas High School and Mountain Middle School, both public schools charters by the Colorado Charter School Institute, to split the funds raised by the tax increase on a per pupil basis.
The override would provide $1.7 million in 2017.
The language on the ballot will require the district and two charter schools to use the funding in several areas including programming to graduate students who are college or workforce ready; recruiting, retaining and training teachers; and providing 21st century, safe facilities.
