Bayfield Primary School holding open house on Aug. 16

The Bayfield School District's existing primary school was originally built in 1925 and is in need of high-priority replacement to address health and safety issues, alleviate classroom overcrowding, and eliminate costly repairs.

The district has been awarded a Colorado Building Excellent Schools Today grant in the amount of $8.568 million, contingent upon the district securing the required local matching funds of $28.632 million. This would complete the total project, costing approximately $37.2 million, to be used for the following:

Build a new third through fifth grade school on property adjacent to Bayfield Middle SchoolRenovate and update the existing Bayfield Elementary School to be used for grades K-2Improvements to traffic, circulation, site safety and security at the existing Bayfield Middle SchoolPlease join us for an open house to tour the existing primary school and learn more about the district's building plan and the upcoming bond election.

The open house will start at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16 at Bayfield Primary School, 658 S. East St. in downtown Bayfield.
