100 years ago: “Tom Hamor, superintendent of the local fish hatchery returned on the Southern train from Telluride, where he put about 50,000 fish into Trout Lake.”

75 years ago: “Hitting town a caravan of 16 San Juan County, New Mexico, cars drove into Durango to extend greeting and an invitation to attend the San Juan County Fair. Included in the crowd was a good-sized band which enlivened the proceedings with several selections.”

50 years ago: “Rain and hail swept the Basin, but apparently did little damage to crops.”

25 years ago: “The 34th annual Pancake Day sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Durango took place. According to club officials, some 2,007 people consumed more than 8,000 pancakes. The proceeds benefit a variety of community projects.”
