100 years ago: J.O. Huntley came up to Durango from Farmington on the Eastern to meet his wife and M.J. Clovis, his father-in-law. The party returned to Farmington the next morning.

75 years ago: Mrs. Marguerite Clark returned from a three-week buying trip in California.

50 years ago: A cow elk was hit and killed by a car just north of the city limits on U.S. Highway 550. The vehicle, which was southbound on the highway when it hit the animal, sustained moderate damage.

25 years ago: The then-named Purgatory-Durango Ski Resort broke its snowfall record after 27 inches of new snow accumulated in four days, which resulted in an 84-inch base.
