And the West is History

100 years ago: “Conductor Conway, who came in on the delayed Eastern, was taken to the hotel in an ambulance as the result of having a broken foot. How the accident occurred, or how serious, it could not be learned. Conductor Conway is one of the best known railroad men running into this city.”

75 years ago: “Garbage in Dolores was hot stuff. The city garbage truck caught fire and was badly damaged.”

50 years ago: The following appeared in the section called Dryside News: “Seven men met at the community spring and made repairs on it. They also cleared brush and cleaned the park.”

25 years ago: “Despite the fact that La Plata Community Hospital brought in more money in October than ever in its history, the hospital is operating at a $33,000 loss for the year. ... In 1988, Community lost $638.000 according to the financial statement.”
