75 years ago: “With the evidence proving the success of Nazi Fifth Column activities in Norway, the Netherlands and perhaps in France, it is startling to hear a La Plata County official, who ought to know what he is talking about, flatly assert that Durango and La Plata County has its share of Nazi propagandists.”

50 years ago: “Mr. and Mrs. Earl Barker Sr. are leaving for Barker’s 50th anniversary high school reunion. He graduated from high school in a small town near Lincoln, Nebraska.”

25 years ago: “With the start of the 19th annual Iron Horse Bicycle Classic less than 24 hours away. IHBC race headquarters is going crazy. In other words, it’s business as usual.”
