100 years ago: “Purchasing Agent Willson contracted with I. Kruschke to furnish the city with a new wool flag, 6 by 12 feet. Inspired by patriotic impulses Kruschke is said to have offered to sell the flag at actual cost to him. The commissioners may decide to keep the flag on the pole at the City Hall at all times. It being the opinion of Commissioner Willson that every public building should fly the American flag at all times.”

75 years ago: “The log structure at the Columbine Summer Ranger Station near Cascade is almost completed and is expected to be ready to use about May 1. The house is completely and modernly equipped.”

50 years ago: “The Burns National Bank gave $1,000 apiece to the Durango Public Library and to the Fort Lewis College music department.

25 years ago: “United Way has exceeded its goal of $125,000, with $136,859.45 having been collected or pledged. Volunteers helped display that fact on Main Avenue in front of Burns National Bank buildings.”
