100 years ago: It was almost time for the annual meeting of the “good roads people” and a renewed interest in proposed highways was of discussion in the state. The San Juan people were interested in two proposed highways, “one leading out of the Montezuma valley to the western slope and the other leading to the San Luis valley by the way of Cumbres Pass, Antonito and Alamosa.”

75 years ago: W.F. Mocre left for Denver to enter Fitzsimons. He advised his family in Durango that he will undergo an eye operation soon.

50 Years Ago: A motorist hit a parked car and caused approximately $1,000 in damage on the 700 block of Sixth Street. Police issued a careless driving citation.

25 years ago: There were reports of theft, one citing diamond earrings stolen from City Cleaners and the other for $272 in checks stolen and cashed from a residence on the 1100 block of Florida Road.
