100 years ago: “It is reported that 5 inches of snow fell in Silverton. In the Red Mountain district, the fall was said to be 12 inches.”

75 years ago: “Glenn Izet, of Denver, consulting engineer, has informed the Durango City Council that the sewage disposal plant for the city, to be under construction shortly, will be a ‘more efficient plant than any other in Colorado.’ The sewage plant will be constructed under a WPA project.”

50 years ago: “The Kiwanis Club has a problem. The name of Mrs. Rowena Rich was drawn for a prize from Johnson Jewelry company, at the pancake supper, and the telephone number on the ticket is wrong. They have been unable to locate her. If Mrs. Rich will call at the jewelry store, there is a gift certificate waiting for her.”

25 years ago: “After 20 years in the planning, Ignacio Community Library is scheduled to open in January, but in order to fund the library’s $37,000 annual budget, Ignacio is seeking to from a special taxing district. ... Volunteers first began raising money for a library in Ignacio 20 years ago. The project was dropped until last summer when the town purchased a building on the corner of Goddard Avenue and Pioneer Street to house a library.”
