NY Film Series brings ‘Gone Girl’ to ACT

The New York Film Critic Series continues at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at the Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Drive, with a screening of “Gone Girl.”

The David Fincher film is based on the global best-selling thriller by Gillian Flynn, and stars Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike.

Thursday’s screening will feature behind-the-scenes extras and a question-and-answer session with Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers. Tickets are $12.

GMO documentary to screen Thursday

Good Dirt Radio will present a screening of the documentary “Genetically Modified Foods: Panacea of Poison?” at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave. The screening is free.

The film examines the contentious issues surrounding genetically modified food. The screening will be followed by a question-and-answer session with local health and agriculture figures as well as a discussion about Proposition 105, a Colorado ballot question that would require mandatory labeling of GMOs.

Danish folk dancers to perform Saturday

Danish folk dancers will perform from 4 to 5 p.m. Saturday in Rotary Park, 1565 East Second Ave.

The performance will feature live music, traditional costumes and dancers from all over Denmark. The performance is free.

Dancers are being hosted by families in Durango for five nights while they perform in local schools and visit the area.
