Bayfield YAFL starts season on the road

Teams returning for home play tomorrow, Sept. 5

Bayfield play in the Young American Football League has started for the season, with two road games under the teams' belts as they head into two Saturdays of home games.

The Bayfield fifth graders are now 1-1 after defeating Bloomfield 24-13 on Aug. 15. Then they had a tough loss to the Durango Demons on Saturday, Aug. 22, 26-6.

Quarterback Deegan Barnes has scored most of the team's touchdowns this year. Teegan Taylor ran in one touchdown against Bloomfield, and Caden Woods caught a pass from Barnes for another six points in that game.

The sixth grade team defeated the Farmington Panthers 20-0 on Aug. 22.

Fourth grade lost to Farmington Panthers 7-14 on Saturday.

The second grade team lost to Bloomfield 13-7 on Saturday. The team won its season opener, albeit by forfeit, against Shiprock.

The Bayfield teams play at home this week and Sept. 5 at Wolverine Country Stadium. Games start at 9 a.m.
