Bobcats pounce on a few league track titles

Ignacio track and field crowns three Western Slope champions

The Ignacio Bobcats crowned a handful of track and field league champions at the 2A Western Slope League Championships over the weekend in Grand Junction.

Klayson Smith took the league title in the boys pole vault, Chrystianne Valdez won the girls pole vault, and Michelle Simmons sprinted to a title in the 200-meter dash and leaped to one in the high jump.

The boys 4x100 relay team also took first in the conference, and Smith took second in the high jump.

For the boys, top-three finishers include:

Austin Haire, second, pole vault; third, discus.

Christian Knoll, third, pole vault.

Mike Perez, third, 100 hurdles.

Wyatt Hayes, second, 400; third, long jump.

Kelton Richmond, third, shot put.

For the girls:

Jayce Stricherz, second, pole vault.

4x100, third.

800 sprint medley relay, second.

Cloe Seibel, third, 400.

Ellie Seibel, third, high jump.
