Arts center accepting grant proposals

The Durango Arts Center is accepting initial grant proposals for 2016 funding of arts and culture programs.

Applicants must be 501(c)3 (or fiscally sponsored) status, operating in good financial standing for three years in Durango city limits. Grants are made possible by the city of Durango, and fulfillment of requests for funding are contingent on the city’s final budget approval in December.

New business offers uniforms for sale

Owner Jason Payne announces the opening of Uniformity at 925 Colorado Highway 3.

The retail business offers uniforms, and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Human Resource managers host talk

The Durango Area Human Resource Managers will host a Roundtable Discussion from noon to 1 p.m. Oct. 21 at Ska Brewing Co., 225 Girard St.

The discussion will focus on issues that challenge human-resource managers and input from participants is always welcome.

Lunch will be provided by The Container. The cost for the luncheon is $15 for members and $17 for nonmembers. If a gluten-free option is needed for pizza and sandwiches, email suzy@skabrewing.com.

Management conference to be held

The Durango Chamber of Commerce will host the management conference titled “Issues and Solutions” from 7:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 12 at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.

The featured speaker will be Curt W. Coffman. Coffman is a best-selling author, and is currently changing the way organizations think about their culture, their managers and their business results. Following Coffman’s speech there will be four hot topic breakout sessions including “When Generations Collide” from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.; “Just Text Me, Office Talk, 140 Characters at a Time” from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.; “OMG ... Awkward” from 11 a.m. to noon and “Coaching as a Management Style” from 11 a.m. to noon. There will be an optional networking lunch at 12:15 p.m. The lunch is $20 per person. The cost for the conference ranges from $75 to $45. Reservations are required.

Pura Vida Cafe announces closure

Pura Vida Cafe at Valleicto Lake, 14810 County Road 501, announces that it will be closed during the winter season.

The cafe will reopen in April 2016.
