Colorado adds 67,100 jobs in five-month period

More money, more jobs.

Through a five-month period, the average wage and salary employment for Colorado is 67,100 greater than the same period last year. The majority of new jobs added were in the professional business services and tourism.

The state Gross Domestic Product for 2013 increased at a faster rate than the nation’s. Nationally, the first quarter GDP dropped to negative 2.9 percent.

When the data is revised in March 2015, it is projected that Colorado will have added 74,000 more jobs in 2014, an increase of at least 3.1 percent, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
