DENVER - Colorado Parks and Wildlife seeks public input in the development of their 2015 strategic plan. CPW invites the public to workshops scheduled throughout Colorado and offers a brief public comment form available on CPW's website today through April 3. CPW aims to craft a vision and strategy that is shared by the public, stakeholders, staff and the Parks and Wildlife Commission. CPW's strategic plan will set a high-level vision with overarching goals for the agency and identify priorities and strategies for managing Colorado's state parks, wildlife and outdoor recreation resources. The Parks and Wildlife Commission began the strategic planning process this past December. Commission Chair Robert Bray recognizes the benefits of a broad set of individuals weighing in. "I encourage all Coloradans with an interest in the Colorado's parks, wildlife and outdoor recreation to share their thoughts on the future direction of CPW," Bray said. The Durango CPW workshop is set for 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 at the Durango Public Library at 1900 E. Third Ave.
CPW stakeholders and public also have an opportunity to voice comments online through a comment form on the CPW website available in English and Spanish through April 3.
The 2015 strategic plan will inform CPW programs and processes into the future and will help CPW leadership allocate resources effectively.
"Developing a strategic plan places CPW in the driver's seat, and guides our priorities for where our critical resources are applied," said CPW Director Bob Broscheid. "As a public trust agency, engaging and listening to our public is critical to the strategic planning process."
The strategic plan is scheduled to be finalized in the fall of 2015, then CPW will develop short-term operational plans to translate the shared vision into action on the ground.
