Families with children in elementary school are invited to attend Middle School Welcome Nights. The goal is for students and their families to learn how Durango School District 9-R provides a positive experience and smooth transition for the next level of education.

Escalante Middle School Welcome Night will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at the school, 141 Baker Lane. Miller Middle School Welcome Night will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the school, 2608 Junction St.

Welcome Nights will be a chance to meet the school’s leaders and teachers and ask questions. Visiting students can play games, meet current students and receive prizes. Families will learn about the schools’ vision, Miller’s new building opening in the 2024-25 school year, student clubs and athletics, social-emotional skill-building, gifted and talented support, and district-specific resources such as the SOIL Outdoor Learning Lab and Impact Career Innovation Center.
