Greed must motivate courses’ high cost

Reading the Local Briefs on Sept. 18, my blood pressure went sky high. Please tell me why the CSU La Plata County Extension Office offers a food-preservation class at a cost of $80? Don’t we pay taxes for our County Extension program and La Plata County Fairgrounds? The majority of people who need to take this course couldn’t begin to pay $80, and the people that can afford to pay don’t really need the education and merely take the course to brag that they put up all their food. By the same token is the $150 charge for a two-hour seminar and box lunch. What have we become? Greed, greed, greed.
