Historic Preservation Commission will host the sixth annual Historic Driving Tour of La Plata County from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 18, beginning with a walking tour at the Hesperus Baptist Church, 22972 Highway 140.

The Murder, Mystery and Mining tour of Hesperus and Mayday will feature nine stops. The walking tour of Hesperus will be made up of the first seven stops, followed by lunch and a tour of the Mayday School and Olga Little Boarding House. Each stop will feature a historical speaker.

Lunch will be served from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Hesperus Baptist Church and will be provided by Marvel Grange. Cost is $8 per person and an RSVP is required by May 13. Call Cindy Greer at 588-3386 to RSVP for lunch.

Dogs are not allowed on the tour and carpooling is encouraged. Some tour stops are on private land.
