Harvey named to dean's list
Grace Harvey of Bayfieldhas been named to the dean's list for the 2014 fall semester at the University of New England.
Dean's list students have attained a grade point average of 3.3 or better out of a possible 4.0 at the end of the semester.
The University of New England (UNE) is a health sciences university with two campuses in Maine and a new campus in Tangier, Morocco.
Griffith returning stateside
Bayfield native Sierra Griffith, currently serving in the U.S. Navy, is returning to her home port of San Diego following a seven-month deployment aboard the USS Makin Island, an amphibious assault carrier. She served in stints in the Red Sea, Persian Gulf, Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea, the longest being for 125 days. She and her shipmates did enjoy getting off the "tin can" at a few ports of call, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Duqm Oman and Hawaii. She's more than anxious for some rest and relaxation back home in Bayfield following her ship's return, according to her parents, Patty and Jim Griffith. Family, friends and "real food" are on the top of her list when she is back on solid ground. Thank you to all who have supported her and her family through this experience, the Griffiths wrote.
