Drivers reminded to watch for wildlife

The Colorado Department of Transportation and Colorado State Patrol remind drivers that wildlife-vehicle collisions on highways are highest in the fall – particularly mid-September through November.

Comments sought on San Juan Skyway

The facilitators of the San Juan Skyway 25th Anniversary project will be submitting a public report by the end of October.

The report will compile the comments, ideas and feedback gathered during the public engagement process around the San Juan Skyway’s 25th anniversary. People who did not attend the meetings and have not participated in the online questionnaire, should consider submitting their thoughts or concerns on future Skyway opportunities at the Survey Monkey site at www.surveymonkey.com/s/SPSGNLQ. The deadline is Wednesday.

FLC library to host fall book sale

The Center of Southwest Studies at Fort Lewis College announces the Delaney Research Library fall book sale will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday.

Offerings will include history books on the American West and Southwest, railroads and other topics. These new and lightly used books are available for purchase at 50 cents and up. In conjunction with the Center of Southwest Studies’ book launch and author signing of Tough Men in Hard Places: A Photographic Collection by Esther Greenfield.

High Noon Rotary Club to meet Thursday

The Durango High Noon Rotary Club will meet from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the DoubleTree Hotel, 501 Camino del Rio.

The cost for lunch is $15. Claire Sheridan and Dylan Wall will give an update on La Plata Youth Services.

Comment sought on U.S. 160 access plan

The town of Bayfield, La Plata County and the Colorado Department of Transportation are seeking additional public comment on the U.S. Highway 160 Access Plan.

Specifically, the project team is seeking input on the Commerce Drive intersection. The U.S. 160 Access Plan Project team members will meet with interested parties from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayfield Town Hall, 1199 Bayfield Parkway. The proposed plan is available for viewing at the town of Bayfield website www.bayfieldgov.org. People unable to attend may fill out a comment sheet and drop it off at town hall. Comment sheets also are located on the town of Bayfield website. Comments will be accepted until Nov. 6.
