Wilderness study areas to be discussed

In honor of Wilderness Week, San Juan Mountains Association in partnership with the Tres Rios Field Office of the Bureau of Land Management will sponsor a lecture by Chris Barns, wilderness specialist with the National Landscape Conservation System from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Center of Southwest Studies Lyceum at Fort Lewis College.

Barns will speak on “Wilderness Study Areas – Past, Present, and Future.” The Four Corners is home to 11 remote wilderness study areas, more than any other BLM field office in Colorado.

Bayfield Tat & Chat will meet Wednesday

Bayfield Tat & Chat will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. each Wednesday beginning Sept. 24 at Bayfield Town Hall, 1199 Bayfield Parkway, Bayfield.

People who would like to learn the art of tatting are invited to attend. Tatters who would like to improve their skills are welcome. People who have shuttles should bring them. The Tat & Chat will be presented by Gary and Randy Houtz, also known as The Shuttle Brothers.

Durango Daybreak to meet Wednesday

Laurie Sigillito, owner of FASTSIGNS and FASTFORWARD Media, will speak at the Durango Daybreak Rotary Club meeting at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Sigillito will share her thoughts behind Inside Durango TV, why she decided to reinvent the station and how their programming is focused on local content that matters. The public is welcome.
