High Country Gardeners to meet Wednesday

“Garden Trends for 2014” will be the topic of the Durango High Country Gardeners meeting at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Durango Discovery Museum, 1333 Camino del Rio.

The presentation will be given by Landscape Designer, Debora Hahn. A light lunch will be served.

DHS class of 1964 to host reunion meeting

The Durango High School Class of 1964 will meet at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at the home of Sheila Moss Walter to plan the 50th class reunion.

Healthy cleanses to be discussed

Herbalist, Marija Helt, PhD, of Osadha Herbal Wellness will offer a class on spring cleansing from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

This class will focus on a gentle, holistic approach to doing a sensible cleanse.

The goal is to use diet and herbs to restore the system after a long winter and to mark the transition from winter to spring. There is $10 suggested donation.

Women’s health classes to be offered

Herbalist Marija Helt of Osadha Herbal Wellness will offer the class “Women’s Health – Cycle Imbalances” at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Participants will learn simple, natural approaches for support.

Helt will also offer a class on “Spring Cleansing” from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.

The class will focus on a gentle, holistic approach to doing a sensible cleanse.

Fundraiser to be held for emergency responders

“Burning Down the House,” the fifth-annual fundraiser benefiting Durango’s emergency responders through the 100 Club, will take place from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Seasons Rotisserie & Grill, 764 Main Ave.

The 100 Club’s mission is to provide financial assistance to families of public safety officers and firefighters who are seriously injured or killed in the line of duty and to provide resources to enhance their safety and welfare.

Proceeds from beverage and food sales from 5:30 to 10 p.m. will be presented to the nonprofit 100 Club after the event.

Durango Fire Protection District, which will station a fire truck on Main Avenue in front of Seasons, will decorate the restaurant for the event.
