Cattlemen group to meet Monday

The La Plata-Archuleta Cattlemen’s Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds Extension Building, 2500 Main Ave.

Michael Jewell, a group member and an attorney from the Denver area, will attend with Dana Eismeier, who will give a presentation on the top ways to avoid litigation, most of which will be geared toward issues for ranchers and landowners. The public is invited.

City Span moves to new channel

With Charter Cable’s switch to an all-digital encrypted service, City Span, Durango Government TV has been relocated by Charter to digital cable channel 191.

Charter cable customers must now have set-top boxes for each TV in their home to view Charter programming; people can no longer plug their cable into their TV to see programming. In addition to airing City Council meetings both live and replayed, City Span offers a selection of programming for children and adults.

Durango City Span also airs on Southwest Colorado Television Translator Association channel 10.1 to residents of Montezuma and Dolores counties. City Span’s schedule and programming can be viewed at http://durangogov.org/cityspan.

15th Street to be closed for 30 days

Fifteenth Street – from East Third Avenue to Main Avenue – will close, starting Monday, for 30 days.

Kennebec Construction has been contracted to improve the roadway, railroad tracks, storm drainage, sidewalks and pedestrian crossings in the project area. During the closure, the 15th Street pedestrian and bicycle access to and from the Animas River Trail also will be detoured.

Rotary Club of Durango to meet

Daybreak Rotary Club of Durango will meet at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

The guest speaker will be Dr. Richard Grossman, retired physician and columnist for The Durango Herald for more than 19 years. His presentation will be “Introduction to Rotarian Action Group for Population and Development.”

Bike, Walk, Bus Day to be held at FLC

An Environmental Studies group from Fort Lewis College will host Bike, Walk, Bus Day on the FLC Campus from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.

With the help of Durango Transit, the student-led group has been researching transportation habits of FLC commuters, as well as the effects of choosing sustainable transportation.
