Read about fitness at Bayfield library

This June and July, the Pine River Library will be promoting healthful lifestyles with its fitness-themed Summer Reading Program.

Participants of all ages will have the chance to win prizes by reading and completing other activities that keep both the mind and body healthy and active.

For children, there will be events from 10 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday through Friday, including special S.T.E.A.M. and fitness storytimes and opportunities to read to real-life dogs. Toddlers and babies are invited to Wee SRP from 10 to 11 a.m. Mondays, and it will feature fun lap-sit and circle activities like fingerplays, songs and stories. Teens are invited to weekly “camps” that run most Mondays through Wednesdays from noon to 2 p.m. with topics that range from painting to programming.

For adult programs, retired Arizona State University professor Mark Curran will return to tell tales of his time on the National Geographic Explorer from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, June 21-Aug. 3. There will also be a series of fitness programs.

Participants can sign up from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the kick-off event. Sign-ups will continue throughout the length of the program; just stop by the library and pick up a registration packet.
