Drilling to take place at Navajo Dam

The Bureau of Reclamation will begin drilling at Navajo Dam on Wednesday to conduct geologic assessments on the downstream slopes of the dam. This work will allow reclamation to characterize foundation materials and allow for long-term monitoring of groundwater.

Construction equipment traffic will be visible on and around the dam during drilling. Drilling activities will produce loud noises along with flying dust and possibly water flowing from drill holes. All of these are normal and expected during this type of project. Drilling is expected to be complete in August 2016.

For more information, visit www.usbr.gov.

Medicinal plants to be discussed

Participants will learn about which parts of the plant are used and for what, how to harvest and make medicine, folklorical and magical uses. There is a suggested donation of $10.
