Old Fort Farm Stand open today at FLC

The Old Fort Farm Stand will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. today on the west side of the Fort Lewis College Student Union Building.

The stand will offer: Fresh garlic, lettuce mix, kale, chard, romaine heads, carrots, red beets, broccoli, red, white and yellow onions, zucchini, cilantro, basil, green and yellow wax beans, red, white and specialty potatoes, leeks, serrano peppers, heirloom tomatoes, jalapenos, yellow crookneck squash, cilantro pesto, sesame pickled radishes, garlic-pickled radishes, kale chips, garlic-scape pesto, arugula pesto, basil pesto, roasted poblano peppers, pickled garlic scapes, garlic scape powder, grass-fed beef and local pork products. Checks, cash and Skycash will be accepted.

Ignacio library announces closure

Ignacio Community Library, 470 Goddard Ave. in Ignacio, will be closed in observance of Labor Day on Saturday and Monday.

The library will reopen at 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Road Runner Transit to take break Monday

The Road Runner Transit Service will not run Monday in observance of Labor Day.

It will resume normal service Tuesday. Road Runner is the public-transit service provided by the Southern Ute Community Action Programs.

City announces Labor Day schedule

This is the city of Durango’s schedule for Monday:

City administrative offices will be closed, including Durango City Hall, River City Hall, Durango Police Station and Substation, Durango Transit Center, Durango-La Plata County Airport, Greenmount Cemetery and the Parks & Recreation administrative offices.

The Durango Community Recreation Center will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Mason Center and Chapman Hill will be closed.

Durango Public Library and all of the branches will be closed.

All commercial and residential trash/recycle routes will run as normal. All residential customers are asked to ensure trash and recycle cans are out by 8 a.m. for service. Durango Recycle Center will be closed.

Transit will run a limited service on Route 3 (Walmart). Route 3 will not go to Mercy Regional Medical Center. Route 2 (Fort Lewis College/North) and Route 4 (Crestview) will run a normal schedule. The Main Avenue Trolley will run from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Route 6 (evening bus) will begin service at 6:35 to 9:45 p.m. The parking window will be closed.

Parking will be free in the downtown area from Saturday to Monday.

Quilters guild to meet today

The La Plata Quilters Guild will meet at 5:30 p.m. today at Christ the King Lutheran Church, 495 Florida Road.

For this month’s program, members will demonstrate techniques of borders, bindings and paper piecing. People who are interested in quilting are invited to visit or become a member.
