Old Fort Farm Stand holds Thursday sales

The Old Fort Farm Stand will be opened from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday on the west side of the Student Union building at Fort Lewis College.

The stand will have: garlic, lettuce mix, arugula, kale, chard, romaine heads, carrots, beets, broccoli, red, white and yellow onions, zucchini, cilantro, basil, green and yellow wax beans, red, white and specialty potatoes, serrano peppers, leeks, sesame pickled radishes, garlic-pickled radishes, kale chips, garlic scape pesto, arugula pesto, basil pesto, roasted poblano peppers, pickled garlic scapes, garlic scape powder, grass-fed beef and local pork products. Checks, cash and Skycash will be accepted. Free parking on campus is available all summer.

DHS exchange student speaks to Rotarians

Durango High School student Sally Pope will share her experiences as a Rotary exchange student in Taipei, Taiwan, with Daybreak Rotarians at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Pope attended a Taiwanese school and stayed with a Taiwanese family, learning much about their culture. The public is invited.

Grant-writing workshop offered in Mancos

Mancos Valley Resources, a community support organization serving the Mancos Valley since 1995 will host an applied grant-writing workshop to be conducted by professional social sciences program developer, evaluator and grant consultant Clara A. Martinez from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 4.

A light lunch will be served. The cost for the workshop is $40. It will consist of addressing the common elements and selection criteria of private- and public-sector grant making. Participants are required to identify and utilize a specific grant application they wish to prepare or review during the workshop in order to apply the principles of proposal writing toward an authentic and meaningful outcome. Each participant will receive materials to prepare for the workshop, so that their specific questions can be addressed before and throughout its duration. The deadline for application is Sept. 19.

CSU football watch parties planned

Colorado State University Football Watch Parties will take place at the Main Event Sports Bar & Grill, 42 East Animas Road (County Road 250) No. 400.

All CSU alumni and friends are invited. Participants will watch CSU play Colorado at 7 p.m. Aug. 29, and CSU play Boise State at 8:15 p.m. Sept. 6.
