Advantage hosts blanket, coat drive

Advantage Physical Therapy & Wellness, P.C., 3600 Main Ave., Suite A, will hold its eighth annual Advantage Blanket and Coat Drive from Saturday to Dec. 31 benefiting the Durango Community Shelter and the Southwest Safe House.

Donations can also be dropped off at Spa Evo, 1075 Main Ave., No. 224; Body of Work, 679 East Second Ave., Unit 10; Keller Williams, 700 Main Ave.; and The Best Western, 21382 U.S. Highway 160.

Operation Christmas Child items collected

First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive, will be an Operation Christmas Child collection site from Monday to Nov. 25.

The site will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 22: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 23: 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 24; and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 25.

At this site anyone can drop off a gift-filled shoebox to send to a child overseas. Volunteers will fill shoeboxes with toys, school supplies, hygiene items and notes of encouragement. Operation Christmas Child offers a way for participants to follow their box, by using the donation form found at samaritanspurse.org. Donors will receive an email telling the country where their shoeboxes are delivered. Participants also can build a box through an online tool. A list of additional nearby locations can be found online.

Durango Nature Studies to host full-moon hike

Durango Nature Studies will host a Full Moon Hike and Astronomy Talk from 4:45 to 6:45 p.m. Sunday at Falls Creek.

The hike is free for members, and $10 for nonmembers. Participants will learn about natural history, nocturnal animals, local landforms, and moon facts and legends.
