The Durango Elks Lodge Veterans Committee will serve breakfast from 9 to 11 a.m. the first and third Sundays of the month at the Durango Elks Lodge, 901 East Second Ave.

Use the Ninth Street entrance. The cost is $5 for veterans and $6 for non-veterans.

Alex Sanchez of Durango is donating a kidney to his best friend, Joseph Salazar.

To raise money for medical and travel expenses, there will be a garage sale and a silent auction from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 63 Walker Lane, Durango, off of County Road 219.

Many of Durango’s business owners have donated items and gift certificates for the silent auction.
