Local talent keeps the Herald readable

I’m joining the chorus of those who express gratitude to John Peel for his excellent journalism and genuine sadness that he has left. He put the humanity in human-interest stories and often took us beyond our provincial boundaries. We are sorry to see him go and wish him the best in his new venture.

At the same time, may we all continue to enjoy the warm and compelling writing of Ann Butler and Rachel Turiel and the always entertaining slants on local life of Mike Smedley.

Andrew Gulliford gives us historical travelogues and real stimulus to explore interesting places.

Judith Reynolds illuminates our cultural scene as rich and varied and offers an occasional jibe at a local issue.

The key is that all this talent is local and in sync with our community.

Because of all of these, I still love to read the Herald.
