Love my electric car, can’t wait for more

I want to thank Gov. Polis for signing the executive order that will move Colorado closer to a Zero Emission Vehicle standard.

The technology is there, the majority of Coloradans want it, the time is now.

I bought my Nissan Leaf in 2017. It has 18,000 miles on it. That’s 18,000 miles not on my truck, three oil changes I haven’t had to pay for and a great feeling when I drive down the road.

The automotive industry would tell you that ZEV standards are premature, but the science is clear: EVs’ total costs are lower, even with higher sticker prices.

They would have you believe that the charging technology is poor, but my experience has been excellent.

My home charger and ones I use in town (thanks, city of Durango and Nissan!), at the hospital (thanks, Mercy!) and Pagosa Springs (thanks, Incredible Pagosa!) have worked perfectly. We just need more, especially along the highway corridors.

Finally, this bill will begin to bring the possibility of EV trucks to Durango in 2020. Can’t wait!
