Money awarded to local art organizations

Durango Friends of the Arts hosts many events annually to generate grant money for the next year. The organization awarded $45,000 to 23 organizations. Grants are distributed for programs whose goals provide educational and cultural benefits to the people of the greater Durango area. Since its inception in 1991, DFA has awarded more than half a million dollars to the support the arts locally.

These organizations were awarded grants: Animas City Night Bazaar, BE Frank – Creative Music Scholarship, BE Frank – School Year Student Scholarship, Dumpster Beautification Project, Durango Choral Society, Durango Creative District, Durango Film Institute, Durango Playfest, Four Corners Orff, Jeff Solon, iAM MUSIC Festival, iAM MUSIC Scholarship, Merely Players – “Macbeth,” Merely Players – “Matilda,” Music in the Mountains – Family Concert, Music in the Mountains Goes to School, San Juan Symphony, Southwest Civic Winds, Stillwater – Party in the Park, Stillwater Youth Scholarship, Third Avenue Arts, 20Moons Dance Theatre and Willowtail.
