Music in the Mountains adds four to board

‘Members embody the spirit of community’

Music in the Mountains recently appointed four new members to its Board of Directors: Bob Chaput, David Clark, David Habrat and Sydney Morris.

“All four of our newest board members embody the spirit of community and bring talent, expertise and energy to the table while offering something unique to the organization,” Angie Beach, Music in the Mountains executive director, said in a news release. “We are very fortunate to have them by our side as we continue to grow and evolve.”

Chaput

Chaput, before he moved to Durango 23 years ago, spent two decades in Long Beach, California as the founder and president of pension administration company Pension Profit Sharing Services, Inc. He was treasurer, vice president and program chairman for the Long Beach Rotary Club and served as a Long Beach Symphony board member. After relocating, he served as a Durango Habitat for Humanity board member and treasurer; Durango High Noon Rotary Club board member and treasurer; and La Plata Electric Association Round Up board member.

Clark

Clark has 40 years of experience as a physician and surgeon. He spent 15 years at University of Missouri, where he served on the management committee. He has also served on several strategic planning groups, on boards of three national medical organizations and as the University Medical School Curriculum committee chairman. Clark currently serves on a strategic planning group for First United Methodist Church.

Habrat

Habrat is the vice president of sales for Ballantine Communications and oversees events, news media, niche publications and local and regional directories. He is also the organizer of an independent volunteer program called LoveThis.Town, which gathers community support to host events, such as Noel Night and the Veterans Day Parade. He has been involved with: Durango Chamber of Commerce; Durango Business Improvement District; La Plata County Economic Development Alliance; Cambridge School Board and Long Range Planning; the YMCA board in Mankato, Minnesota; the Lake Washington Association board; the Diversity Council in St. Cloud, Minnesota; and youth basketball organizations.

Morris

Morris has a background in fundraising, special events and public relations. She has served on several boards and advisory committees, including: Volunteers of America, Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado, Durango Arts Center, Durango Choral Society, Durango Friends of the Arts, Cowboy Poetry Gathering, Habitat for Humanity and the Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall.
