Fiesta Market open this Saturday

A Fiesta Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Ignacio ELHI gym, formerly the elementary school.

The event includes vendors and door prizes, and admission is free.

Heart Safe offering CPR, first-aid classes

Heart Safe LaPlata, a local nonprofit organization, offers an adult CPR/AED and basic first-aid classes on Thursday, Aug. 4. The first-aid class is from 3 to 6 p.m., and adult CPR is from 6 to 10 p.m. A CPR Pro class is offered from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11.

The location of both classes is at Durango Fire and Rescue Station 1 at 142 Sheppard Drive in Bodo Park in Durango.

WolfWood to visit Vallecito on Aug. 6

WolfWood Refuge will make its annual visit to Five Branches Camper Park at Vallecito on Saturday, Aug. 6.

Visits with the wolves are from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a wolf talk at 1 p.m. Five Branches will serve lunch. A suggested $5 donation will be given to Wolfwood. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet some of the new ambassador wolves, enjoy petting, take photos, receive wolf kisses and go home with all the free wolf fur your clothes can handle.

There will be lots of new WolfWood items for sale, with 100 percent of the profits going to the refuge. Do not bring dogs. Five Branches is located at 4677 County Road 501A.

Alzheimer's caregiver support meets Aug. 2

The Alzheimer's Association will host a caregiver support group at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Pine River Senior Center in Bayfield.

High schools to hold fall activity meetings

Bayfield High School will have its fall activity parent meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, in the BHS cafeteria.

Ignacio High School's meeting is from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 4 at the high school.

Animas Museum to host gathering

Animas Museum will celebrate National Night Out from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

As a police-community partnership event, the museum will host an evening for neighbors and families to get together and enjoy root beer floats, sidewalk chalk and jump rope games on the museum grounds. The event is free and all are welcome to come. The Animas Museum is located at 3065 W. Second Ave., in Durango.

Guild celebrating 30th anniversary

La Plata Quilters Guild invites past and present members and guests to join them for an ice cream social to celebrate their 30th anniversary.

The meeting will be held at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 4 at First United Methodist Church, 2917 Aspen Drive in Durango.

Workshop for people with disabilities

The Southwest Center for Independence, a local non-profit that helps people with disabilities to live well, is offering a free mindfulness workshop for people with disabilities.

Participants will learn how to decrease stress, pain, and depression and increase self-esteem and positivity.

There will be four sessions on Aug. 2, 4, 9 and 11.

Light refreshments provided.
