In an incredible 47-7 route of the fourth-ranked 2A team in the state, the Bayfield Wolverines turned up the heat on the La Junta Tigers and never let up in the state semi-final win.
"I knew we were gonna win, but I never thought we would win by this much!" Coach Gary Heide announced to his team on the field after the win.
The only bad news the Wolverines received was that Platte Valley had defeated Kent Denver in the other state semi-final game.
That means in spite of the Wolverines' number-one state rank and undefeated record, they have to travel north to Kersey to play for the state title.
We'll have the full story and photos from Joel Priest later on this site. Congratulations, guys!
