OzFest is coming for the second time to Bayfield to raise money for families battling pediatric cancer.

Last year’s event benefited Ozzie Goldman and is growing to help more families this year, said Robin Goldman, Ozzie’s mother.

OzFest will feature live music by Beau Smith, Tomyris, Red Eyed Djinn, Midnight Backhand and the Full Circle Collective.

A beer tent, food and kids’ activities will round out the festival offerings.

The festival will benefit the families of Maddie Abdallah-Boehm, Dominik Fisher, Jaden Page and Chloe Harris. Two of the children are in active treatment, one is in between treatments and one is receiving maintenance therapy, Goldman said. Donations help families paying for treatment and expenses, which mount quickly when families repeatedly have to go to Denver and back for cancer treatments.

Her son “is doing awesome,” she said. He finished treatment in January, finished second grade and is playing baseball.

OzFest will run from noon to 6 p.m. June 23 in Joe Stephenson Park. For those who can’t attend, donations are accepted at the OzFest account at First National Bank of Durango.

Goldman is organizing OzFest this year with the help of First Presbyterian Church of Durango, Jered Davis and Maggy Baxter.

Donors this year include Lewis True Value Mercantile, Pediatric Partners of the Southwest, Southwest Ag, Basin Printing, Sky Ute Casino, Mr. Woods Pizza, Star Liquors, Bayfield Lions Club, and the Be FRANK Foundation.
