“It was a long trip, but it was a complete team victory,” said DHS head coach John Robinette. “We drew upon a lot of facets from the loss on Tuesday and were just so much better in every area of the field. Our faceoff guys, Matt Miller and Dylan Berridge, were awesome, and so were our wings and it showed. We got going on offense, and our defense was really stout today, and we held them scoreless for a long period of time there to pull away.”

DHS senior Corbin Randle had six goals and two assists. Andrew Coleman added two goals and an assist, while Rocco Estes scored the final goal and also added one assist.

The Pirates (1-2) kept up with the Demons for the first quarter had the match tied 4-4. The Demons were too much to handle in the second quarter, as they outscored Englewood 6-1, which included the first three goals of the quarter from Cullen Robinette.

Durango held the Pirates scoreless from the 2:22 mark of the second quarter until the 7:08 mark of the fourth. Senior goalie Dylan Gaver finished with 13 saves, while freshman Bode Ensign played the final five minutes and made one save.

“It was great to see that from our defense after Tuesday, where Telluride scored four out of the six goals in that second half to beat us,” coach Robinette said. “It was a big confidence booster, and we’ll look to continue it again tomorrow.”
