Methodist church to start sermon series

The First United Methodist Church of Durango will start a new sermon series this weekend that will culminate with the Christmas Eve worship services.

The series, called “The First Carols of Christmas,” will teach the meaning behind the carols and focus on the enjoyment of singing them.

Weekly services are held at 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 8, 9:30 and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Anglicans to explain Eucharist service

All Saints Anglican Church of Durango will present an “Instructed Eucharist” about the first Sunday in Advent, which is today.

A narrator will introduce and explain each element of the service, also known as Holy Communion and the Lord’s Table. The aim is to demonstrate that a centuries-old form is as relevant for worship today as it was when it began to take shape in the first century.

All Saints Anglican Church, part of the Reformed Episcopal Church, meets at 10 a.m. each Sunday in the Windom Room of Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Unitarian Universalists to discuss poetry, gratitude

“Poetry as a Form of Gratitude” will be presented by the Rev. Katie Kandarian-Morris and Unitarian Universalist Fellowship members at 10 a.m. Sunday at 419 San Juan Drive.
