Ten years after releasing “Garden State” and its Grammy-winning soundtrack, actor/director Zach Braff is back with another toothsome twosome.
“Wish I Was Here,” a Sundance Film Festival standout written by Braff and his brother Adam, opens in select cities July 18, then expands nationwide July 25. Braff directed the family comedy/drama.
Braff also curated the soundtrack, which includes new songs “Heavenly Father” by Bon Iver, “So Now What” by The Shins and the title track by Coldplay with Cat Power’s Chan Marshall.
Among other cuts on the 15-track collection are Paul Simon’s “The Obvious Child,” Badly Drawn Boy’s “The Shining,” Bon Iver’s “Holocene,” Hozier’s “Cherry Wine (Live),” The Weepies’ “Mend” and The Head & The Heart’s “No One to Let You Down.”
The Columbia Records set will be available in stores and digitally July 15. A vinyl version will be released Aug. 5.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of “Garden State,” Legacy Recordings will release its soundtrack on vinyl for the first time on Aug. 5. The indie disc, which sold nearly 1.5 million copies in the U.S., boasts songs by The Shins, Coldplay, Iron & Wine, Simon & Garfunkel and Nick Drake.
