Durango Roller Girls hosting Roller Derby 101

The Durango Roller Girls are teaching the basics of roller derby from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Chapman Hill.

The Durango Roller Girls will host their first home bout of the season June 14. They also will host home bouts June 28 and July 12.

Hillcrest signing up youth for its junior clinics

Hillcrest Golf Club and the Hillcrest Junior Golf Foundation are registering youth for junior golf clinics at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hillcrest.

The program costs $20, and the foundation will provide the clubs.

Hillcrest offers advanced, beginning and intermediate programs that will run June 2-5.

Golf with Grace, for Grace, at The Glacier Club

The Glacier Club will host the fourth annual Golf with Grace tournament Friday.

All proceeds from the tournament will go to the scholarship fund and operating needs for the Grace Prepatory Academy.

There will be closest to the hole, longest drive and hole-in-one contests included with the tournament.

Durango Swim Club will host a leg of Narrow Horse tri

The Durango Swim Club again will host its annual Narrow Horse 1,500-meter swim Friday at the Durango Community Recreation Center.

The Narrow Horse, in conjunction with the Iron Horse Bicycle Classic Citizens Tour on Saturday and the Narrow Gauge run Sunday, will serve as one-third of this year’s Narrow Horse Triathlon competition. Awards will be given to the top three finishers.

Narrow Gauge 10-mile run keeps on chugging

One of Colorado’s oldest Memorial Day runs is set for a 37th edition.

The Narrow Gague 10-mile and 4-mile runs will take place at 8 a.m. May 25 at Santa Rita Park.

The 10-mile run costs $45 to register, and the 4-mile is $35.

Interested participants can register at durangorunningclub.org through Friday, in person at Browns Sport Shoe on Saturday and race day if there still are spots available.

A $350 prize will be split between the top three men’s and women’s finishers.

There is a free 1-mile kids run at 10:30 a.m.

Ultrarunner’s historic feat runs onto the big screen

Scott Jaime ran the entire 486-mile Colorado Trail in a little more than eight days.

A documentary was made about it, and both Jaime and the film will be in Durango for a screening at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Smiley Building, sponsored by Backcountry Experience and the Durango Running Club.

The tickets are $8 in advance at Backcountry Experience, Maria’s Bookshop or online at trails2000.org.

The price will increase to $10 the day of the show.

All proceeds will benefit local nonprofit Trails 2000.

“Running the Edge: The Colorado Trail” runs 45 minutes, and a question-and-answer session with Jaime and the film’s director/producer Matt Trappe will follow.
